Juventus has been winning games all season and these three were no different. First the Bianconeri defeated A.C. Milan the so called world champions. Then they defeated Parma 3-0. They also enjoyed a wonderful 4-0 win against Atalanta. I’ll do my best to summarize these matches.
Juventus vs. A.C. Milan
Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino
This match was one of the best that I have ever seen. It was also a good way for Juventus to bounce back after a defeat to Palermo. The first few chances fell to Milan. In the 1st minute Massimo Ambrosini tried a through ball to Filippo Inzaghi but Inzaghi was caught offside. In the 4th minute Andrea Pirlo tried to find Favalli but he too was offside. In the 6th minute Alessandro Del Piero tried a left footed shot from distance that missed to the left. He was caught offside a minute later. In the 12th minute Del Piero found the back of the net with a right footed shot. Zeljko Kalac did a split in a weak attempt to block the weak shot. Milan responded immediately but Inzaghi’s shot flashed wide of the post. One minute later Inzaghi netted the equalizer after Kaka sent a low ball straight through the defense and Inzaghi tapped it in. The next chance fell to Juve but Giorgio Chiellini sent it just over the crossbar. In the 18th minute Ambrosini received a yellow card for a bad challenge against Mohamed Sissoko. In the 20th minute Pirlo tried a left footed shot that was blocked by Gianluigi Buffon. Five minutes later Sissoko was shown the yellow card after a rough challenge. In the 27th minute Kaka tried a shot from outside the box but Buffon blocked it in the lower right corner. In the 31st minute Inzaghi scored another goal. Ambrosini passed it to Bonera who chested it downwards passed it to Inzaghi who shot and scored. Another attempt was blocked by Buffon when Kaka tried a shot from outside the 18 yard box. Then the Bianconeri scored another goal. Mauro Camoranesi crossed to Trezeguet who connected with a very powerful header from close range. Somehow Kalac blocked it but Hasan Salihamidzic was there to put it into the back of the net. The second half started off with Inzaghi aiming for his hat-trick. His shot from the center of the box was blocked. In the 51st minute Nicola Legrottaglie was replaced by Guglielmo Stendardo after sustaining an injury. In the 66th minute the match began to turn in the Bianconeri’s favor. Daniele Bonera received a red card after fouling Mohamed Sissoko. Then in the 80th minute Camoranesi crossed it in from a free kick. Salihamidzic was open in the box and headed it in. Kalac didn’t even react to the shot as it flew into the goal.
Juventus vs. Parma
Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino
The Parma match could be easily seen as a one-sided match. The match was postponed due to the death of a Parma fan, so it was played on the 16th of April. The first chance fell to Parma but Fernando Couto’s header went wide of the post. The Bianconeri responded with a free kick that Del Piero played in to Salihamidzic but the Bosnian headed it wide. They received another chance when Trezeguet headed Christian Molinaro’s cross wide. Trezeguet scored an easy goal just 6 minutes later off of a corner kick. Luca Bucci came out to block the corner but instead missed it completely. Then Trezeguet who was onsides tapped it in with his left foot. Parma struggled to penetrate Juve’s defense and on the other end of the pitch Bucci blocked Antonio Nocerino’s right footed shot from distance. In the 30th minute Raffaele Palladino had no trouble getting past Damiano Zenoni. Then he proceded to beam a shot right past Luca Bucci to double Juve’s lead. Parma almost reduced that lead by one but Bernardo Corradi’s shot turned out to be great catching practice for Buffon. In the 53rd minute Nocerino was still trying to beat Bucci but to no avail. Reginaldo tried to beat Buffon to make it 2-1 but his header flew just wide. With 18 minutes left Nedved almost made it 3-0 with a powerful strike that struck the post. Parma could no longer handle the ongoing attack and crumpled under the pressure. Tiago tried to cross it but Stefano Morrone got in the way and tried to clear it with a header. Apparantly it didn’t work. Instead he scored a beautiful goal………. on his own keeper. Bucci could only watch as Morrone’s header went over looping over him and found the lower corner. It all went downhill from there as Couto was red carded. From there it was a simple match with Parma barely posing a threat to the Juventus defense
Juventus vs. Atalanta
Stadio Azzurri D`Italia
The odd part of this match was that Nicola Legrottaglie said that he owed so much to Atalanta coach Luigi Del Neri who coached him while he was at Chievo Verona. But Legrottaglie showed his appreciation by scoring on his former coach in less than 60 seconds. The match started with Del Piero having a free kick which he curled in towards Legrottaglie who found the back of the net. Merely 6 minutes later the Bianconeri scored again. Camoranesi crossed it Trezeguet tried to keep it in with a header and Del Piero hammered it home to make it 2-0. Atalanta’s only good chance of the half came when Gianpaolo Bellini’s strike soared just wide of the post. Just as Atalanta was beginning to look like they might get back into the match Christiano Zanetti played a long ball through the defense that found Del Piero who was surprisingly onsides. The Italian striker put it past Ferdinando Coppola to triple Juve’s lead. Atalanta came close 2 minutes later when Sergio Flocari put it just wide. 56 minutes into the match Nedved lifted the ball in from the left to Del Piero who connected but Coppola managed to block it. Nine minutes later Del Piero completed his hat-trick when Trezeguet gave yet another assist that Del Piero blasted past Coppola.
