The Red Bulls slipped past Real Salt Lake. The Red Bulls won the match 1-0. THe game’s only goal came from Dave van den Bergh. John Wolyniec sent in a cross as Juan Pablo Angel ran to the near post drawing a man away from the goal. van den Bergh ran in and scored after the low cross took a deflection from Nick Rimando. The Red Bulls will be playing the Columbus Crew in L. A. this upcoming Sunday. This will be the MLS cup final. An interesting note is that the Crew are favored and they 1-2 against the Red Bulls this season, with a 6-4 aggregate, favoring the Red Bulls.
Ac Milan continued their good form with a 1-1 draw at Lecce. Their new star Ronaldinho has scored 5 goals and has been returning to his best form. He scored at Lecce and scored a stunning game winner against Braga in the UEFA Cup. AC Milan are in second place in the Serie A right now. They are a point behind the defending champions, Inter Milan. Even though they were held up, AC Milan continues unbeaten in 12 games.
The New York Red Bulls knocked the defending champions, Houston Dynamo, out of the MLS Cup. The MLS has two games played. These two games have an accumulative aggregate score. The New York Red Bulls had a disappointing 1-1 draw at home. Juan Pablo Angel (NY) and Kei Kamara (HOU) both scored. The Red Bulls then had to face Houston in an away game. You would think that the Red Bulls would lose to the defending champs on the road, right? Unforunately for Houston, New York won the match 3-0! Juan Pablo Angel, Dane Richards, and John Wolyneic each scored. Danny Cepero, a rookie goalkeeper (NY) , had an outstanding performance. You could tell that Houston was feeling exasperated.
The New York Red Bulls had a game against the Chicago Fire that could affect their playoff situation. They lost 5-2. Juan Pablo Angel and Macoumba Kandji scored for New York. Chris Rolfe (3), Brian McBride, and Daniel Woolard scored for Chicago. The New York side could only make the playoffs if DC United lost. Thanks to the Columbus Crew, the Red Bulls made the Playoffs and now get to play the Houston Dynamo, with the first leg at home. Hopefully, the Red Bulls won’t fall apart, like they did against Chicago.
David Beckham has been in talks with AC Milan for a possible loan move. The 33 year-old midfielder has been thought to consider this move to boost his status within his international squad. Another theory is simply that Beckham wants to stay in shape and possibly improve his form. This move would take him to a star studded AC Milan, including Ronaldinho, Shevchenko, Kaka, Seedorf, and many more.
The Red Bulls beat top-of-the-table Columbus yesterday. Juan Pablo Angel scored two goals. The Red Bulls’ third goal came from an unexpected source. The backup goalie, Danny Cepero, who made his Red Bulls debut yesterday (coming on for a suspended Jon Conway), became the first MLS goalie to score. He scored from just outside his own penalty area. It was a free kick that bounced on the eighteen yardline and bounced over a stunned Andy Gruenebaum. This match was a real morale booster for the Red Bulls.
AC Milan defeated Sampdoria 3-0. Ronaldinho, who has anticipated a return to his best form, scored two of the goals. He opened up the scoring in the second half with a penalty kick. His next goal came from a through from Mathieu Flamini. Ronaldinho’s shot went to the far post and into the lower corner. The third and final goal came in the last minute of regulation time from Fillipo Inzaghi, who’s finish seemed almost identical to Ronaldinho’s.
